Your Excellency,

On Aug. 8, 2010, Muslim extremists attacked the Protestant “Batak Filadelfia Church” in Ciketing. The church service could only be conducted in the presence of police forces, since the members of the community were constantly prevented from doing so. The assailants, however, did not let themselves be deterred by the police presence and injured twelve church members.

Incited Islamic extremists have time and again destroyed churches, and the Christian minority is repeatedly victimized by violent acts. Moreover, several church buildings have been closed down in the past few years owing to pressure from Islamists. We therefore call on you, as a matter of urgency, to see to it that religious liberty is guaranteed to the Christian minority in your country. Furthermore, we demand that the attackers are brought to justice.

Muzulmán szélsőségesek Ciketingben 2010. augusztus 8-án megtámadták a protestáns Batak Filadelfia Egyház tagjait. A gyülekezet csak rendőri védelem mellett tarthatott istentiszteletet, de a támadókat ez sem riasztotta el, és megsebesítettek 12 hívőt.

Felheccelt iszlámista szélsőségesek rendszeresen lerombolnak templomokat, és fenyegetik a keresztény kisebbséget. Az utóbbi években iszlámista nyomásra bezártak több egyházi épületet. Fölszólítjuk Önt, sürgősen tegyen meg mindent az indonéziai keresztény kisebbség jogainak biztosítására, és követeljük, hogy a tetteseket állítsák bíróság elé.
