We are extremely concerned about the unprecedented wave of attacks by Hindu extremists against Christians in the Kandhamal region of the Federal State of Orissa. During the past Christmas season, six Christians were killed and 95 Catholic and Protestant churches as well as 730 Christian homes were burned down. Some 5,000 people are now without shelter.

We urge you to conduct a thorough investigation into these attacks and to ensure swift trials for those responsible.

Rendkívüli módon aggasztó a hindu szélsőségesek példa nélkül álló támadása a keresztények ellen (Kandhamal körzet, Orissza tartomány). 2007 karácsonyán 6 keresztény halt meg, 95 katolikus és protestáns templomot, valamint 730 keresztény tulajdonban lévő házat fölgyújtottak. Mintegy ötezren hontalanná váltak.

Követeljük, hogy indítsanak alapos vizsgálatot a tettesek kiderítésére és a felelősöket haladéktalanul állítsák bíróság elé.
