Your Excellency,

We are dismayed to hear that the human rights lawyer Jiang Tianyong is being massively prevented from carrying on his activities. He has been constantly intimidated by security forces in Haidian District in Beijing, who have urged him to cooperate with the authorities. His e-mail-box has been closely monitored, and he has repeatedly received anonymous phone calls. Furthermore, he and his family were prevented from attending a church service on Sept. 7, 2010.

We call on you to abide by the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations and to see to it that Jiang Tianyong and his family are no longer harassed. He should also be allowed to continue his human rights commitment without any interference.

Megrökönyödéssel hallottuk, hogy Jiang Tianyong emberi jogi ügyvédet akadályozzák hivatása teljesítése közben. A pekingi Haidian kerület biztonsági tisztjei megfélemlítik, és a hatóságokkal való együttműködésre akarják kényszeríteni. Emailjeit ellenőrzik, és rendszeresen ismeretlen telefonhívásokat kap. 2010. szeptember 7-én családjával együtt megakadályozták, hogy istentiszteleten vegyen részt.

Fölszólítjuk, hogy Kína tartsa tiszteletben az ENSZ Emberi Jogok Egyetemes Nyilatkozatát, és ne zaklassák többé Jiang Tianyongot és családtagjait. Egyúttal biztosítsák, hogy az ügyvéd szabadon végezhesse emberi jogi tevékenységét.
