Dear Minister,
On Nov. 8, 2010, Asia Bibi, a 42-year-old mother of five children, was sentenced to death under Section 295-C of Pakistan’s Penal Code for insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Asia Bibi herself denies the allegations and expressed her highest respect for Islam.
At any rate, executing a mother of five for words she may have spoken is incompatible with basic principles as laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the U.N. We therefore call for her release. Furthermore, we call on you to work toward the revision of all blasphemy legislation in Pakistan.
